CRISTA Compliance

A ministry-wide effort to proactively comply with applicable laws, minimize risks, and to promote a spiritually ethical culture.

Program Benefits:

  • Establish or reinforce organizational culture
  • Identify and address key legal, regulatory and ethics risks
  • Encourage good business judgment and conduct among all leaders and employees
  • Provide impartial reporting to Board of Trustees

Purpose

The Program standards and policies are meant to reflect CRISTA’s culture through the three directives given in Micah 6:8; Act Justly • Love Mercy • Walk Humbly with Your God. These directives are the foundation for the conduct expectations required of any individual representing CRISTA and are further explained in CRISTA’s Employee Code of Ethics & Conduct.

Additionally, the program is designed to help employees identify the boundaries of legal and ethical behavior and establishes a system to alert management when there is an issue that needs to be addressed before it escalates or interferes with organizational business objectives. The program’s blueprint is adopted from the structure promulgated by the U.S. Sentencing Commission in the Organizational Sentencing Guidelines (OSG) which lists seven elements that should be included in an “effective” compliance program:

  1.  Supports Written Standards & Policies
  2.  Compliance Personnel
  3.  Effective Training & Education
  4.  Effective Communication
  5.  Monitoring & Auditing
  6.  Consistent Enforcement & Discipline
  7.  Investigations & Corrective Actions

The Employee Code of Ethics & Conduct is the foundation of the written standards for the program and provides the basis for training and educating all CRISTA employees and representatives.
